In Memory of Latte / Being Stubborn

Praying Mantis in hiding

It’s the 2nd of January and Latte, my guinea pig passed away on this day in 2003 after a prolonged illness that was probably caused by her getting water in her nose while I was giving her a bath. =’( A few days before she passed, I knew her time was running out. Her ears were cold, and she was lethargic. I was on my way back to campus when she breathed her last. Dad buried her in an unlikely spot. Right in front of the flowerbed and there’s no way you can NOT walk on her grave. Latte was such a character. Unlike Mocha, who was content to lie on my stomach while I watched TV, Latte would hop off and scurry towards the furniture on her way back to the cage. There was no way I could get her to ’stay’, and I didn’t want to force her to be there if she didn’t want to. I recall seeing her furry behind and her back feet as she scurried back. She was a dear, even if she wasn’t very social. Mocha was the one that peed on me the most in the beginning. But she got used to my constant handling and it impressed me to no end when she would pee in the cage as soon as her feet touched the floor. And I didn’t train her to do that. It was the constant handling and I guess it became a habit. I hope I’ll get to keep a guinea pig or two when I have a chance in the future. If not a guinea pig, then maybe a toilet-trained rabbit?

======

Yesterday was the new year and it started with LOTS of rain. I’ve never seen rain like this (off and on (mostly on) for the whole day). Watching Astro was a test in patience too. Oh shoot. I just remembered that we missed part of House, M.D. last night and the repeat is RIGHT now. brb.

Never mind, Mum’s watching something on TV and she doesn’t know what she’s watching (It’s called ‘Remp-It’). The next repeat of House, M.D. is on Saturday, 1p.m. I’ll catch it then (if I remember).

Dad heard from the priest that The Star (a local newspaper) is looking for part-time journalists in my state. I shot down the idea because I am just not in the mood. I don’t like to write. The only reason I’m writing here is because I can’t TALK. And even if I had a podcast, I can’t stand the sound of my whiny voice. I just hope I’ll get through the interview on the 9th and get to go out of the house for a few months. Even if it means not having an internet connection and no Astro and facing ‘Mathematics for Engineers’. :D

That’s it from me for now. Bye and take care.
