Here Comes The Rain Again
Whenever it rains in December (it’s the rainy season now), I can’t help but reminisce my primary school days. I looked forward to rainy days then, because:
- It was cool, and gloomy - the classroom lights would be turned on.
- I could wear my cardigan and hide the top part of my boring navy school uniform.
- No Physical Education classes!
December also meant the end of year school holidays. I remember being curled up under the blanket, listening to the rain falling heavily outside my room window whilst reading the continuing saga of Darrell Rivers at Mallory Towers. I think I was around 11 or 12.
I also recall the hundreds of tiny little frogs/toads hopping about on the ground after days of living life as tadpoles in the many puddles. I hated walking outside then. I feared treading on them by accident and having to see the underside of my slippers later.
I looked forward to the drains being full and seeing bettas and other fish swimming among the leaves and dead earthworms. I would borrow one of Mum’s sieves/plastic baskets and tried catching the fish. It was one of the highlights of the rainy season. I’d keep the fish in a jar and feed them bloodworms.
The one downside to all this was the ravenous mosquitoes!
Off topic: One thing this blog could use is a stats page (with colour-coordinated counters). Admins, please note. =)

Catching bettas sounds like fun.
